OVERVIEW

The Historic Monument known as “Casa Cartagena and Santa Cruz de Cusco” was acquired in July 2006 by an Italian society. The proposed restoration of the house was carefully studied by the Italian architect Roberto Bertetti (www.robertobertetti.it), who was appointed by the society to restore the ancient splendor of the property, without altering the historical value.

Work began in September 2007, under the close supervision of the National Cultural Institute of Peru, with a slow and Minusio restoration work, keeping intact the original walls of the house and reusing the same materials with which the structure was built before..The mud brick or adobe and stone are the basic elements of the house, typical of the Andes and Cusco houses.

The work began in September 2007, under the close supervision of the National Institute of Culture of Peru, with a slow and Minusio restoration work, Hotel Casa Cartagena in Cusco while keeping intact the original walls of the house and reusing the same materials with which to construct the previous structure.
